Summary of our first few weeks over here
Well its taken me 2 weeks to normalise after the long flight over!
Well not quite true, but was the first real day with Nikki that we
went using time together to shop for furniture and sort logistics
out! So we got up bright and early (11am!) and headed North
through Orewa, a lovely long beach town with a fantastic long
beach that we will go back and spend some time at and then on to Warkworth
Warkworth Town Center
Warkworth is a large village with a river estury running though.
We had coffee, Apricot and ginger cake watching a Sailing ship giving rides for charity.
We then travelled around the area looking at other local beaches around the Snell's beach
area, largely comprising of Yachting beaches and Marina's.
We stopped for a while at
Sandspit where we stopped for coffee and watched the Ferry and Yachts. Searched in vain
for a Photographic exhibition Spring 09 which we knew was on Sharp road, and although we
found every gallery which all seemed to be in peoples houses, we didnt find the one we
were looking for, so had to return the following day!
The House
The house is lovely and bright with a great Noth facing Patio window. North facing in NZ is
the sunniest. We dont have any heating which is normal here as it seems mild all the time.
The plants in the garden are very tropical which reflects the area, we have Palm trees, a
Lemon tree and the now famous Cherry tree. Also a selection of plants that I have no idea
of ! We also have a stream running along the bottom of the garden.
Cars
Nikki has a works car - a Kia Cerato -
and we recently bought a Mazda Lantis for me,
rather nifty
Piha Beach
This saturday we visited Phia beach with the Black sands. Famous as a reality Tv show over
here, highlighting the work of the Beach surf rescue. Fantastic views when we arrived at
the top of the hill, had our picnic and waited for the clouds to clear leaving a red hot day
when we arrived on the beach. I have to say that photo's couldnt do it justice today.
